By John Chancey
Good morning Clemson fans! Here is today’s Clemson Tigers News.
Today’s Events
Clemson Men’s Basketball at Alabama: 9:30 PM in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (ACC/SEC Challenge) – take a nap and put on an extra pot of coffee. This one starts in the late window.
A 2024 Clemson Football target commits elsewhere
The Tigers have been on a roll on the field, but they had a small bump in the recruiting road on Monday. Andrew Dennis announced his commitment to the Illinois Fighting Illini.
Dennis is an offensive line prospect who was committed to Michigan State until the head coach was fired earlier in the season. He visited Clemson for the North Carolina game. He had previously visited Penn State and then went to Illinois this past weekend.
Insiders had shared that the distance between Clemson and home could be a barrier for Dennis, who hails from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
The transfer portal is heating up
As we mentioned yesterday, the official window to enter the transfer portal opens next week. That hasn’t stopped several players from announcing their intentions to explore transfers.
One of the positions the Tigers might recruit from the portal is linebacker. Arkansas linebacker Chris Paul Jr. announced he was entering the portal yesterday.
Another position on a lot of Clemson wishlists is wide receiver. Notre Dame’s Chris Tyree announced his intentions to play his final season of eligibility elsewhere.
The name that has been linked to Clemson is offensive lineman Alan Herron. Herron is 6’-6” and 310 pounds. He has been playing at Shorter University, a Division II member in Rome, Georgia.
Herron is from Jamaica. The Gamecocks are also interested in the transfer.
Another lineman that might be available is Kevin Wigenton from Michigan State. He has starting experience.
