Prediction: Florida Atlantic at Clemson Football
The Owls are starting their first season in the American Athletic Conference. They didn’t have a great 2022 campaign, and they fired head coach Willie Taggart. That hasn’t kept prognosticators from picking them to finish in the upper half of their new league.
Tom Herman takes over for Taggart, and Nebraska/Texas transfer Casey Thompson takes over at quarterback. The Owls started hot against FCS Monmouth, but had trouble moving the ball against the Ohio Bobcats last weekend.
FAU is a better test than FCS Charleston Southern, but the Tigers still have a considerable advantage in talent. I expect the defense to have another strong showing against Thompson and the Owls’ offense.
The fortunes of this game will still reside with the Tiger offense. If they are efficient, they will create an early lead on FAU and win comfortably. If they fail to protect the ball, as they did against Duke and CSU, anything can happen.
I like Clemson to cover the spread, and I will take the over on points.
