Prediction: Charleston Southern at Clemson Football

As stated earlier in the week, success in this game won’t be defined by the scoreboard.

Even a bad team can win big over an outmatched FCS opponent. Clemson won big over South Carolina State in 2021, but it wasn’t because of significant improvement. Most of the problems of that season were still present despite the scoring output by the Tigers.

First, we need to see the team’s demeanor and attitude. Are they handling themselves with poise? Can they bring the intensity while also keeping their emotions in check?

The best case scenario for this team is for the offense to be efficient, put together drives, and then score on at least three of the first four drives. The defense needs to be able to force three and outs and prevent chunk plays.

If the Tigers can accomplish that, then the ideal is to get the starters out of the game for the second half and get the backups and reserves reps.

If the Tigers can’t display the efficiency they need, then the starters should stay in until they get it right. If that happens, it could be another long season in Death Valley.
