Prediction: Clemson Football at Duke
The Tigers do not traditionally start fast on offense at the beginning of a season. This has been true most seasons, regardless of the offensive coordinator (Chad Morris, Tony Elliott and Brandon Streeter). It would be great to think that might change under Garrett Riley, but I’m not counting on it.
On the other side, the defense is moving into Year 2 under Wes Goodwin, and they have a good balance of experience and talent. I expect the defense will have the advantage early over Riley Leonard and the Duke offense.
I think this will be a close game in the first half as both offenses find their footing. I like the Clemson offense to make some quick strikes in the third quarter before feeding Will Shipley and Phil Mafah to put the game away.
I like Clemson to cover the -13, but I will take the under 55.5 points.
