Last year, the Clemson Tigers had 10 wins and won the ACC in a down-year. Now in 2023 with a new offensive coordinator and the right quarterback on the field, the sky’s the limit of the Tigers and their offense. BetSided college football betting analyst Reed Wallach is backing that unit in Dabo Swinney’s team’s Week 1 matchup with Duke.

Cade Klubnik is taking over at QB after DJ Uiagalelei transferred to Oregon State and with that Wallach is on the over in this matchup.

Betting analyst prediction for Clemson in Week 1

Cade Klubnik is the story for Clemson this year.

On Klubnik, Wallach said, “The team fell apart in key stretches due to its lackluster quarterback play, but have the five star recruit Klubnik in place after finishing the season as the starter, including the ACC Championship victory. He will also be under the guidance of offensive coordinator Garrett Riley, who just engineered the explosive offense for TCU that went to the National Championship Game in 2022.”

The change at offensive coordinator might be even bigger than the change at QB because things got very stale at Clemson last season. However, as Wallach said, it wasn’t that bad.

“It wasn’t explosive, 58th in EPA/Play and 74th in EPA/Pass, but down-to-down, the offense was still 30th in the nation, better than Duke, who was seen as a standout offense.”

Will Shipley, Clemson’s running back is another star for the Tigers and their running game and Wallach expects him to have a big game in Week 1.

“I believe this team is set to thrive against an overrated Duke defense that had the second best turnover margin in the country last season, which masked a rush defense that was outside the top 100 in rushing success rate.”

Wallach is all in on the over in Week 1 and expects a big win for the Tigers.
