The Class of 2023 for Clemson Football was a large group of talented players. Some of them will play right away due to either talent or need at their position. Some will almost certainly redshirt. Others are a mystery.

Here are the freshmen who are a mystery right now. It is hard to predict if they might redshirt or not.

Stephiylan Green

  • Number: 90
  • Position: Defensive Tackle
  • Height: 6’-4”
  • Weight: 280 pounds
  • High School: Rome High School
  • Hometown: Rome, Georgia
  • 247Sports Rating: 4-star
  • 247Sports Ranking: 187th

Green was an early enrollee along with Peter Woods and Vic Burley. All three players showed in the Spring Game why they were rated highly as high school prospects.

Woods has shown he will see the field as a freshman. Burley probably needed a little Power Hour and now he’s dealing with an injury, so he is likely looking at a redshirt.

Green is a bit of a mystery right now. The depth the Tigers have at defensive tackle would make me lean toward the redshirt because they just don’t have to put him on the field right now.

On the other hand, the few bits of news I have heard indicate that he is playing well in camp. Is he playing well enough that they can’t keep him off the field? I’m not sure about that.

The overall health of the defensive tackles could dictate this. We have heard that Demonte Capehart, Tre Williams, and Vic Burley are already dealing with injuries. More injuries mean Green probably plays in more than four games. Overall health means he probably can redshirt.
