DJ Uiagalelei is named the starting quarterback for Oregon State
Oregon State has decided the former Clemson Football quarterback transfer DJ Uiagalelei will be the starter for the Beavers 2023 season.
Uiagalelei has been competing with the incumbent starter, sophomore Ben Gilbrandson, as well as freshman Aidan Chiles.
One week ago, head coach Jonathan Smith stated publicly that the quarterback competition was ongoing.
The Beavers open their season against San Jose State on September 2nd.
Another Clemson transfer gets starting job at Southern Miss
DJU wasn’t the only quarterback who transferred out of the Clemson program after the 2022 season. Walk-on quarterback Billy Wiles elected to transfer to Southern Mississippi.
Head coach Will Hall declared Wiles has won the starting competition.
Between DJU, Wiles, and Taisun Phommachanh, who was named the starter for UMass Monday, three former Tigers will be starting for their new teams in 2023.
Long-time Clemson Foottball target commits elsewhere
Eddrick Houston, a 5-star defensive end from Buford, Georgia committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Tuesday.
Clemson was one of Houston’s finalists and attended the official visit weekend in early June. While he had plenty of complimentary things to say about the Tigers, he has been trending to Ohio State for a couple of months.
Clemson Women’s Soccer improved in the rankings following their opening week of the season. The Tigers are now 19th in the United Soccer Coaches poll.

Clemson opened with a scoreless draw against a ranked South Carolina squad before a 9-0 victory over Gardner-Webb, both at home. The Tigers now venture out west for two road games against Utah Valley and Utah.
Clemson Men’s Basketball transfer Joe Girard has gotten a lot of the headlines since he announced Clemson was his destination this summer, but before that the Tigers got another transfer guard in Jake Heidbreder from Air Force.

Clemson Football doesn’t face rival Georgia Tech until November, but this will be the first season in some time without Jeff Sims taking snaps for the Ramblin’ Wreck.
The Jackets have decided that Texas A&M transfer Haynes King will start their season at quarterback.
