Barrett Sallee ranks ACC fourth in his conference power rankings
CBS Sports’s Barrett Sallee released his conference power rankings this weekend, and he has the ACC in fourth place ahead of the Big 12.
Sallee begins his explanation by pointing out there are multiple national title contenders in the conference.
“As is the case with the Big Ten, the ACC boasts two legitimate CFP contenders in No. 8 Florida State and No. 9 Clemson. Both boast studs at quarterback with Jordan Travis and Cade Klubnik, respectively, and are experienced enough to not only lead their teams to the national title, but put themselves in position to win the Heisman Trophy.”
When discussing the Big 12, he makes the point that Texas has to prove itself since it is annually hyped, but that most of the other contenders are further back in the rankings.
I don’t always agree with Sallee’s opinions, but I agree that the ACC has two national title contenders while Big 12 might not even have one. If Texas does contend, it might be because the other teams just aren’t good enough to challenge them.
That said, I think TCU and Kansas State will challenge Texas for the Big 12 title this season.
Justyn Ross looks fine
There was some concern about Justyn Ross after he rode the cart after practice this week, but he looked like vintage Ross in this clip from the Chief’s preseason win over the Cardinals.
Cornell Powell snagged a touchdown reception against Arizona as well.
