Clemson Football: The 2023 Tiger football games most likely to host College GameDay
By John Chancey
Notre Dame at Clemson
Other options: LSU at Alabama, Washington at USC, Oklahoma at Oklahoma State
Most likely to host GameDay: LSU at Alabama
This will be the fourth time in four seasons that the Tigers and Notre Dame have tangled. They met twice in 2020, splitting the games, before the Irish’s convincing victory in South Bend last season.
Both teams have changed quite a bit since last season, most notably at quarterback and offensive coordinator. Former Irish quarterback and OC Tommy Rees left for Alabama. Head coach Marcus Freeman decided to promote from within. They also brought former Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman in from the portal for one season. Hartman is a decorated player.
Given the profile of the Notre Dame program and their new quarterback, it would seem to be a no-brainer to be in Clemson for GameDay. Who could rival that matchup?
It turns out that the highest-profile matchup of the year in the SEC West also comes in Week 10. LSU got the best of Alabama in 2022 and took the division crown from Nick Saban. He is going to want it back.
I’m not an SEC homer but this game should be huge.
If LSU or Bama stumble along the way, and the Tigers and Irish are both undefeated, then Clemson stands a chance to grab GameDay. I would still lay the best odds on Tuscaloosa.
