Clemson Football: The 2023 Tiger football games most likely to host College GameDay
By John Chancey
North Carolina at Clemson
Other options: Georgia at Tennessee, UCLA at USC
Most likely to host GameDay: Georgia at Tennessee
North Carolina is getting a range of reactions for their upcoming season. Due to the presence of Heisman-hopeful Drake Maye, some think the Tar Heels will be a force. Others (like yours truly) can’t help but notice all the turnover around him, on both sides of the ball. I remember Sam Howell’s final season in Chapel Hill. This wreaks of that campaign when suddenly everyone realized Howell was trying to do it with no help around him.
If I’m wrong, though, this could be a very impactful game to decide who plays in the conference championship game.
My initial thought was that this game stands a chance to be selected because it is in Week 12, which has become SEC vs FCS week. The proud programs of ‘It Just Means More’ take on the Mercers, Southeastern Louisianas, and Holy Crosses of the football world. Imagine my shock when I realized Georgia, the defending champion who is being raked over the coals for a weak schedule because they had to drop Oklahoma (conference drama), was playing the biggest game of their regular season in Week 12. Unless Rocky Top stubs its toe, GameDay will be in Knoxville.
