Fans are excited for upcoming Clemson Football recruiting announcements

Clemson Football received a commitment on June 27th from Ricardo Jones. Jones is a 4-star safety prospect in the 247Sports Composite from Warner Robins, Georgia. You can watch Jones’s Hudl highlights here.

Jones is one of six 2024 commitments for the Tigers since the first weekend of June when several prospects took their official visits. Clemson has fourteen commitments for the class, including the most recent commitment, offensive line commit Ronan O’Connell.

Clemson has received two key commitments for their 2025 class in the last month as well. Quarterback Blake Hebert and running back Gideon Davidson announced their verbal commitments within 48 hours of each other.

The activity of June has many Clemson fans who follow recruiting fired up. Several more prospects took their official visits in early June that have been visiting other programs over the past month and appear to be getting close to deciding about their future.

Mike Matthews

Matthews is a 5-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is ranked 10th overall and the 3rd-best receiver in the 2024 class. He was originally classified as an athlete and observers had thought he was most likely to play defensive back in college, but Matthews made it clear he wanted to play receiver, and he has narrowed his list to focus on schools that are recruiting him to play offense.

Matthews followed his official visit to Clemson with visits to Georgia and USC, taking his final visit to Tennessee. He has not set an announcement date but Clemson commits like Sammy Brown are making it clear to Matthews that he is wanted in Tiger Town. There are no Crystal Balls on 247Sports for Matthews.

Corian Gipson

Gipson is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is ranked 66th overall and the 8th-best cornerback in the 2024 class. Gipson is from Lancaster, Texas, which is just south of Dallas. Naturally, there are programs closer to home, like the Longhorns, who would love to have Gipson, but he has shown just as much interest in the Tigers.

Gipson followed his official visit to Clemson with visits to TCU, Ohio State, and Texas. Gipson is announcing his decision on July 22nd. There are currently three Crystal Balls in favor of Clemson on 247Sports, but none have been entered since his final visit to Texas.

Eddrick Houston

Houston is a 5-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the 19th overall player and the 4th-best defensive line prospect. He has been on Clemson’s radar since they began offering scholarships to 2024 players in June 2022. He started his official visits at USC, followed by Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and Alabama.

Houston plans to announce his commitment on August 22, so there are almost two more months for the Tigers to court the highly-recruited end prospect, which is an important position in the 2024 class. There are two Crystal Balls on 247Sports in favor of Ohio State, so the Tigers appear to have some ground to make up.

Ashton Hampton

Hampton is a 3-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is 6′-2″ and 190 pounds. He is getting ready to start his senior season at Florida State University School in Tallahassee, Florida, which is a prep school run in cooperation with the university.

Hampton has made official visits to Clemson, Florida, Louisville, Arkansas, Miami and Florida State. There are two Crystal Balls on 247Sports for Hampton to select Clemson. He will announce his choice on July 15th.
