Clemson Men’s Basketball: Hurricanes visit Tigers in big ACC tilt
Coming off an upset loss to Boston College on Tuesday, Clemson Men’s Basketball needs a “get right” game to get back on track after their lackluster outing in Chestnut Hill.
Unfortunately for Clemson, the scheduling gods have dialed up the 17-5 Miami Hurricanes, who are 8-4 in the ACC.
The good news for the Tigers is they are generally good in Littlejohn and Miami has been mediocre on the road in the ACC.
Miami is led by guard Isaiah Wong, who leads the Hurricanes with 16.3 points and 3.5 assists per game.
For what it’s worth the Hurricanes are rated higher in both the KenPom.com rankings and the NET Rankings.
KenPom predicts a 1-point Clemson win, presumably due to the home-court advantage, which is listed as 3.8 points on the site, good enough for the 36th best in the nation.
ESPN gives the Tigers even better odds at 56.2%, while Pomeroy’s 1-point advantage equates to a 50% chance to win.
Clemson Men’s Basketball is a small favorite at home against Miami
Clemson is a 1.5-point favorite with a total of 147.5, implying a 74.5-73 Tiger win, in other words a close game.
John Chancey (16-7, 10-13 ATS):
Every time the Tigers have stumbled, they bounced back. Miami hasn’t played well on the road. I expect some runs in this game but I think the Tigers get the win at home.
Marty Coleman (16-7, 9-14 ATS):
Recency bias is a real thing and I’m having trouble after watching Clemson play on Tuesday. The Tigers made 16 field goals in 40 minutes and had only 4 assists as a team on the evening.
This will likely be different as Clemson and Miami run at generally the same tempo and the Tigers are in the friendly confines of Littlejohn Coliseum.
My record above will tell you this isn’t the first time this year I’ve been stumped and here we are.
Which Clemson team shows up?
Your guess is as good as mine.
The game is scheduled to be televised on the ACC Network at 3 p.m. EST.
