Clemson Tigers News: Elite Jr. Day update, basketball rankings and more
We’ll get to a few Clemson football notes in a couple of paragraphs, but first up is Clemson Men’s Basketball, as the 16-4 Tigers take on Georgia Tech tonight in Littlejohn.
It’s a game the Tigers can’t afford to lose, especially with 2 Quad 4 losses apparently weighing their NET Ranking down.
Clemson fell from 19th to 24 in the latest AP Rankings following their 1-1 week.
We’ll have analysis and picks later in the day, but I expect the Tigers to be favored by 10-12 points when the spread opens, but so long as there is no Chase Hunter and Alex Hemenway on the court scoring will be at a premium.
I’ve spent a fair amount of time writing about the former Clemson football players in the NFL Playoffs, but here’s a stat for those that enjoy such things:
Clemson is the only school with two such quarterbacks on the list.
As we are fond of saying, recruiting never ends, and while the 2023 cycle is winding down, the 2024 cycle is in full swing.
One of the criticisms of the 2023 cycle was one offer at a time at running back, which left the Tigers struggling at the end.
Whether or not that made a difference who knows, but Clemson did end up with a pair of running backs in this cycle, albeit not the ones at the very top of the list. Again, I’m not sure that would have changed if you offered six at a time.
Clemson Football has one running back offer out in the 2024 cycle
It appears that may be the strategy moving forward, too as the Tigers have one running back offer out for the 2024 cycle, in David Eziomume, who will be on campus for the Elite Junior Day Saturday.
The 6’1, 200-pound Eziomume has offers from Miami, Ole Miss, Penn State, Auburn and a host of other schools.
Speaking of Clemson running backs, rising Junior Will Shipley joined some elite company in 2022.
