Friday afternoon brought more good news for Clemson football fans as both Ruke Orhorhoro and Tyler Davis announced plans to return for the 2023 season.

After four defensive starters opted for the NFL Draft fans became concerned about the depth on the defense for the upcoming season.

Things looked up considerably Thursday as multiple defensive veterans announced their return to the team for the upcoming season.

Still, the line that had lost Bryan Bresee and Myles Murphy would be devastated with additional losses, despite the incredible recruiting class coming in.

Davis and Orhorhoro returning gives Clemson two tough nosed veterans along the defensive line and mentors for the young class of studs headed in.

Davis a four-star recruit from Apopka, Florida played in 12 games this season, recording 31 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, a pass breakup, 9 quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery.

He also happens to be the anchor in the middle of the defensive line, though he has battled through injuries the last couple of seasons.

Orhorhoro played in all 14 games in 2022, recording 23 tackles, including 8 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 5 pass breakups, 2 quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery.

Orhorhoro list his hometown as Lagos, Nigeria, but came to Clemson via River Rouge High in Michigan.

On his career Orhorhoro 75 tackles, including 17.5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 8 pass breakups and 2 fumble recoveries in 41 games, while playing over 1,100 snaps as a Tiger.

Clemson football received huge news with the returns of Ruke Orhorhoro and Tyler Davis for the 2023 season

It’s difficult to overestimate the importance of the return of two players with a combined 2,600+ snaps on the defensive line.

This news should also give the young linemen coming in a chance to acclimate to the college game and learn from two of the Tigers best.

Without Murphy, Henry and Bresee, who are both expected to be drafted in the top 15 picks in April, the defensive line will definitely have a different look in 2023, but getting these two back is a huge step in starting the next chapter.
