Clemson Tigers News: NIL flex, Women’s basketball visits Tallahassee
By John Chancey
Just because Clemson Tigers football doesn’t match to the same beat as other programs doesn’t mean they don’t know how.
Faxon Childress tweeted Tuesday that a high-profile Clemson player (presumed football) would be entering the transfer portal.
This created quite a stir, and speculation about who the player was became fervent.
After no announcement was made Wednesday, Childress clarified his tweet.
Some fans dislike anything NIL. Others are desperate for Clemson to become a player in the NIL game.
If what Faxon described was accurate, we have an example where a player decided to stay because Clemson was able to satisfy his NIL wishes.
Men’s basketball defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies last night 68-65 for a solid road win. This one could figure prominently with the tournament committee. We will have more on this game later today.
The Women’s basketball team plays at Florida State today at 6pm. The Seminoles are 14-2 and undefeated at home. This will be another tough challenge for coach Amanda Butler and her squad.
While four Clemson recruits, including Peter Woods, played in the Under Armour Next All-America game on Tuesday evening, three more plan to play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio on Saturday at noon. Quarterback Christopher Vizzina and tight end Olsen Patt Henry will play for the East squad, and defensive end Tomarrion Parker will play for the West.
One Tennessee fan bought Clemson Tigers coach Dabo Swinney burgers to troll him
To the victors go the spoils, and Tennessee was victorious over Clemson in the Orange Bowl. A Volunteers fan decided to troll Dabo Swinney for his comments following Tennessee’s loss to South Carolina.
“When you’re in Tennessee’s position, and they’re like, ‘OK, we beat South Carolina, we beat Vandy,’ and they’re in the playoffs. They’re flipping burgers at the house, having a cold drink watching the championship weekend, ‘What are we? Are we 3 or 4? Where are we going? Are we in Arizona, or are we in Atlanta?’ And the next thing you know, you forget you’ve gotta go play.”
Apparently this Vol fan didn’t like Swinney’s comments, so he thought the perfect response following Tennessee’s win was to send an Omaha Steaks burgers care package.
This fan’s solution was to pay a chunk of change for Coach Swinney and his family to eat burgers. Genius.
