The Clemson Tigers had media availability yesterday at the Orange Bowl, and a couple players announced their intentions for the 2023 season.

Jordan McFadden announced he will be leaving Clemson to begin his career in the NFL. McFadden just completed his fifth season in the program, and had one season of eligibility remaining.

Davis Allen has also announced he is going pro and will be entering the NFL Draft. He also announced that he recently became engaged.

Cade Klubnik spoke to the media as well. Klubnik says he feels great going into Friday’s game against Tennessee. He is confident in himself and the team around him, and believes they have prepared well. Klubnik believes a good performance against the Volunteers can give the Tigers momentum heading into the 2023 season.

Offensive coordinator Brandon Streeter feels good about Klubnik’s preparation for the Orange Bowl as well. He mentioned the differences between preparing Klubnik to play a few series and preparing him to be the starter, but confirmed Klubnik’s statements that the team is responding well.

Klubnik also said something else which helps us infer who might be returning for the 2023 season.

"“I mean you look at our offensive huddle, we’re only losing J-Mac and Davis Allen, and that’s it. That’s a lot of guys returning just on offense alone.”"

Another player who hasn’t announced his intentions is wide receiver Joseph Ngata, who like Allen has been in the program since 2019. He has one season of eligibility left. If Klubnik is correct that only McFadden and Allen are leaving, this would suggest Ngata is returning.

If Ngata does return, we can infer the chances of the Tigers taking a wide receiver from the portal are lower than we thought, but not impossible.
