Three days and a wakeup till the Orange Bowl for Clemson football as they take on the Tennessee Volunteers Friday night in Miami Gardens.

Last week I wrote about Bryan Bresee’s potential return to Clemson for the 2023 season and how it wasn’t a sure thing.

It sounds like Bresee wants to have some film of himself playing defensive end for the NFL to see before deciding if he’ll stay or head to the NFL.

That sounds like good news for Clemson fans, but it could well be a double-edged sword.

How you may ask?

Well, what happens if Bresee goes out and plays defensive end in the Orange Bowl and has a monster game?

Would that be enough to sway his decision and head to the NFL, or would that just whet his appetite for what could be in 2023 and the 2024 NFL Draft?

Good questions that I don’t have the answer to and I’m not sure anyone else does right now either, even Bresee.

Bresee has been through a lot in his time at Clemson and while I selfishly hope he sticks around for another year, one where he’s hopefully healthy for the entirety, I certainly understand the benefits of heading to the NFL, if in fact he will be a top 15 pick.

To return to Clemson football in 2023 Bryan Bresee would likely turn down life-changing money

For what it’s worth the 15th pick in 2022 (offensive tackle) signed for almost $16,000,000 with a signing bonus (received at signing) of nearly $8,800,000.

The closest to that slot in the draft and at Bresee’s current position was the 13th overall pick, Jordan Davis of Georgia who signed for $17,009,278 and a signing bonus of $9,550,384.

Life-changing money either way.

Basketball hosts North Carolina State Friday afternoon

Get primed for the Orange Bowl by watching a little Clemson-North Carolina State basketball on the ACC Network Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.

While I don’t see a line out yet, the 10-3 Tigers are likely to be a short favorite as KenPom.com predicts a 76-74 Clemson win and ESPN gives the Tigers an almost 60% chance of winning the game.

Clemson could go to 3-0 in the ACC with a win, which would be optimal considering two road games (Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh) are to follow.
