Clemson Men’s Basketball made the trip down I-85 to Atlanta on Wednesday and demolished Georgia Tech 79-66 to improve to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the ACC.

After a quick start by Georgia Tech, the Tigers dominated every facet of the game for long stretches.

Playing without sharpshooter Alex Hemenway, the Tigers went inside more often and P.J. Hall reaped the benefits, scoring a season-high 25 points on 12 of 18 shooting, while corralling 10 rebounds to finish with one of two double-doubles for Clemson on the evening.

John Chancey and I, and almost everyone else, predicted a close game that did not happen.

Clemson controlled the boards and frankly had better athletes at every position than Georgia Tech.

Without Hemenway, Dillon Hunter got extended minutes (23) and while he didn’t score he did dish out 4 assists.

Clemson shot 54.8% from the field in the first half and only took 9 three-point shots on 31 field goal attempts.

The Tigers cooled in the second half, but a couple of key threes from Brevin Galloway put down any chance of a Yellow Jacket run.

Hunter Tyson, Chase Hunter and Brevin Galloway all scored 14 points to give the Tigers 4 players in double figures.

Tyson also rang up a double-double with 13 rebounds on the evening.

This was an important road win for the Tigers, who have suffered two bad losses in non-conference, but also have a good win over Penn State.

Clemson Men’s Basketball was victorious in the first of a 19-game stretch of ACC games

This was the first of 19 straight ACC games for Clemson and the slate ahead gets much tougher.

Clemson has 9 days off before tackling North Carolina State in Littlejohn Coliseum on the afternoon of December 30th on the ACC Network.

Following that game, the Tigers hit the road for games at Virginia Tech (1/4) and Pittsburgh (1/7) before hosting Louisville (1/11).

With two bad losses early, the Tigers need to capitalize on every opportunity within the conference and they did just that in this game.

After the first few minutes the outcome was never in doubt and Clemson played solidly for the majority of the game in cruising to the victory.
