Coming of their worst performance of the season the Clemson Men’s Basketball team had one of their best at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville against Richmond of the Atlantic 10 Conference in a 85-57 win in a game the Tigers never trailed in.

It was a game that was never close.  I had questioned the Tigers ability to shoot outside of Littlejohn Coliseum and they proved me wrong in a big way on this night.

The Tigers shot 51.4% from the field in the first half, including 7-14 from three-point range in jumping out to a 43-19 lead at the break.

Not much changed for the balance of the second half as the Tigers poured it on leading by as much as 35 at one point.

Chase Hunter scored 18, Hunter Tyson 16 and Brevin Galloway 10 to lead a balanced Tiger scoring attack on the evening.

Clemson emptied the bench late, with all 15 players seeing action at some point on the evening, with Ben Middlebrooks scoring 8 and R.J. Godfrey 5 leading the bench scoring.

Hunter Tyson and P.J. Hall each had 8 boards for Clemson.

For the game the Tigers shot 48.5% from the field, 46.2% from three-point range and 69.2% from the free throw line.

Richmond committed 15 turnovers to only 8 by Clemson, which led to 19 points of turnovers for the Tigers and only 3 for the Spiders.

The Tigers hit 12 of 26 on three-pointers, led by P.J. Hall’s 3 for 3 night from distance.  Yes, it was that kind of night.

Clemson dominated on the boards, outrebounding Richmond 40-29 and grabbing 12 offensive rebounds to 3 for the Spiders.

Clemson Men’s Basketball finished the non-conference portion of their season by squishing the Richmond Spiders

The Tigers move to 9-3 on the season and it was an important win for a team that hopes to be dancing in March.

Clemson now faces 19 consecutive ACC contests, beginning next Wednesday against Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

After the trip to Georgia Tech (7-4, No. 110), Clemson rounds out the 2022 portion of their schedule by hostin North Carolina State (9-3, No. 53) in Littlejohn on December 30th.
