Just because there’s no Clemson football game this week doesn’t mean nothing’s happening, especially with the transfer portal opening up and the early signing day on the horizon.

Here’s a look at some of our biggest stories of the week, in case you missed them or want another look.

On Tuesday, John Chancey took a look at some wide receiver names in the transfer portal that Clemson may or may not target.

As an aside, over on Twitter, a poll of Clemson fans resulted in a surprise, at least to me.  Over two-thirds believe the Tigers will actively use the portal this offseason.

On Monday, Chancey laid out the reasoning for Cade Klubnik playing against North Carolina in the ACC Championship Game, when he didn’t play just the week before in the loss to South Carolina.

Different circumstances call for different reactions and actions and the change paid off for Clemson with an ACC Championship.

We know what happened subsequently, with D.J. Uiagalelei entering the transfer portal and this is now Klubnik’s team moving forward.

Also on Monday, Chancey shared news about not only Uiagalelei entering the portal, but several other Clemson players making the same decision.

Clemson football fans may have been surprised by the number of portal entries, but are more to come?

For Clemson fans, it seemed like players were rushing to the portal in unprecedented numbers.  That’s not necessarily true, as the Tigers had more players enter the portal last year, just not in bunches like occurred earlier this week.

It’s worse at other places, both near (7 North Carolina defensive backs) and far (22 Texas A&M players) and far, so panic should not set in just yet.

On the other hand, with the window open to enter the portal through mid-January and the Orange Bowl happening on December 30th, I would say the chances of Clemson losing additional transfers almost a sure thing.

With over 1,000 players in the portal this will be an unprecedented year of turnover for college football as a whole and the Tigers are not immune to this current reality in the sport.
