Clemson Football: 2024 specialist commits to the Tigers
By John Chancey
Clemson Football has received a commitment from a kicking specialist for the Class of 2024.
Nolan Hauser from Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina announced his verbal commitment on Monday afternoon.
Hauser measures at 6’-1” and 180 lbs. He held offers from Clemson, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Maryland. He becomes the second commitment for Clemson’s 2024 class following Tavoy Feagin.
Hauser is a Clemson legacy recruit. His father, Scott, played baseball for Clemson. His mother, Sheri, played soccer at Clemson, and his sister, Ella, currently plays soccer for Clemson. Given his ties to the university, it isn’t surprising that Nolan was a strong lean to the Tigers.
Throughout three high school seasons, Hauser is 51-61 on field goals and 154-159 on extra points. His 51 field goals tied a North Carolina state record for most career field goals made, with his senior season yet to be played. His career-long is 49 yards.
Hauser’s Hudl highlights start with examples of his field goal kicking, and he shows versatility – long, short, right hash, left hash, etc. Next, we see examples of his kickoff duties for Hough. First kickoff: through the end zone. Second kickoff: through the end zone. Third kickoff: high, and through the end zone. You get the idea. Not a single return was attempted in any of the kickoffs included in his junior season tape that was posted.
Hauser will presumably be next in line for Clemson Football kicking duties behind Robert Gunn III
The Chris Sailer Kicking website rates him as a 5-star, which by their definition means he is a Day 1 starter for a Power Five program, and well deserving of a scholarship offer. His evaluation says:
"“One of the most consistent FG Kickers we have seen in a few years. His kickoffs are strong. Nolan drives the ball 65+ yards with 3.9+ hang time. Also a more than capable punter. A competitor who thrives under pressure.”"
With BT Potter exhausting his college eligibility in 2022, Clemson will most likely turn to Robert Gunn III for kicking duties next season. Gunn will be a redshirt freshman in 2023.
