Clemson Football fans have been very thankful for many things in recent years. The program has seen several exceptional high school athletes choose to play for the Tigers, and this cycle is no different.
This time, Clemson and the recruit both had to wait until late in the cycle, but the recruitment has now concluded for Tyler Brown. The Greenville, South Carolina wide receiver announced his commitment to the Tigers on Thanksgiving Day.
Brown originally committed to Minnesota in June 2022. Up until that point, the Golden Gophers were the only Power Five program to offer Brown. That changed in October when Virginia Tech offered, triggering Brown to re-open his recruitment.
Clemson began conversations that progressed over the next month, culminating with an offer from the Tigers on November 12th.
Brown is 5’-11” and 170 pounds. The 247Sports Composite rates him as a 3-star prospect. He plays at Greenville High School.
Brown’s senior season highlights have been posted to Hudl. It only takes a couple of plays to see Brown rack up the YAC (yards after catch). After that, we see a variety of downfield catches, such as slants through the middle and deeper routes.
The Clemson Football 2023 class is almost complete, but there is one big position unfilled
Brown is the third wide receiver commitment of the Class of 2023. Clemson previously received verbal commitments from Noble Johnson from Rockwall, Texas, and Ronan Hanafin from Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Clemson Football is not quite done with the Class of 2023. Most notably, the Tigers do not have a running back commitment yet.
The Early Signing Period opens on December 21, 2022. It is expected that most, if not all, of Clemson’s current verbal commitments, will sign during the Early Signing Period. The Tigers could continue to recruit 2023 prospects through to the Regular Signing Day on February 1, 2023, especially if they do not have the running back position wrapped up in December.
