After a week outside of the top 10 Clemson football is once again a member of that club, coming in at number 9 in the AP Poll released Sunday afternoon.

Once again, Georgia received all but one first-place vote, with Ohio State receiving the other first-place vote and coming in second in the poll.

The top five were rounded out by Michigan, TCU and Tennessee.

Despite a close win against Arkansas, LSU jumped a spot to number 6, with Southern Cal coming in a 7 and Alabama 8.

Clemson jumped three spots to number 9 and Utah also jumped 3 spots to 10.

No. 11 through 15 are Penn State, Oregon, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Washington.

No 16 through 20 consists of UCLA, UCF, Notre Dame, Kansas State and Florida State.

The final five are Tulane, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Oklahoma State and Oregon State.

The Clemson, Alabama and Utah jumps were mostly the result of two PAC 12 teams imploding, with Oregon losing to Washington and UCLA losing to Arizona.

Oregon was previously No. 6 and UCLA No. 9.

With its loss to Alabama, Mississippi dropped three spots from 11 to 14.

Even at No. 9, there will be opportunities for Clemson football to advance in the AP Poll

There will be opportunities for the Tigers to gain spots moving forward with big games coming up for teams in front of Clemson.

Southern Cal and UCLA play this week and while LSU will likely win out in the regular season, the Tigers face Georgia in the SEC Championship game.

Michigan and Ohio State play each other on the last weekend of November and depending on the results of that game one could drop precipitously.

The surprise of the season, undefeated TCU, passed a big test Saturday in defeating Texas, but still have to travel to Baylor and host Iowa State and then play in the Big 12 Championship Game against a yet to be determined opponent.

ESPNs FPI pegs the Tigers odds of making the playoff at 30.8%.
