Each week this season the RubbingtheRock.com staff will pick the score of the Clemson football game against the spread and we’ll also pick a wild card game in a “friendly” competition.
The staff stunk last week, going a putrid 2-6 record against the spread, and only 1-3 on the Clemson – Notre Dame game.
The points race looks like this:
Chancey 21.37
Houston (-63.63)
Marty (-172.72)
Beef (-363.63)
Three of us are underwater, with three weeks to go.
We’re using a spread of Clemson -7.
Without further ado, here are the picks for week 11.
John Chancey (10-8, 9-8 ATS)
After a loss like the one at Notre Dame, you expect a team that just had a bad night to bounce back. I hope it was just a bad night. Based strictly on math, I’m going to predict a Clemson cover by a hair.
Chancey’s wild card pick is Ole Miss +12.
Houston Burnett (9-8-1, 8-8-1)
Aight. So last week stunk. But that’s what it is: LAST week. I’m not going to sit here and say that I expect Clemson to magically come alive and score 50, but I expect a better effort all around.
Houston’s wild card pick is Purdue +6.5.
Marty Coleman (9-9, 8-9 ATS)
Most of the projections I’ve seen have Clemson scoring 30 or more, but I can’t see that with this offense at the moment. I also expect a heavy dose of Will Shipley and expect D.J. to also be a factor on the ground. More rushes, more clock and we know Dabo just cares about winning the game.
Marty’s wild card pick is TCU +7.
Casey “The Beef” Cregan (8-10, 7-10 ATS)
I don’t have a good feeling about this weekend, especially with how hot Louisville has gotten the last four weeks. Malik Cunningham gives me nightmares. However, I think the Clemson running game will prevail.
Casey’s wild card pick is Virginia Tech +9.5
