Clemson Football: ACC Power Rankings Headed into Week 10
By Casey Cregan
It’s that time of the week yet again. The ACC Power Rankings. With Clemson football having a bye week last Saturday, I was actually in Starkville, Mississippi relaxing, taking in some games within the conference thinking it would be business as usual…
…and then The ACC happened! Holy Moley, there were some upsets, some extremely disappointing efforts, and some games that left me scratching my head. This conference is fun to watch, below Clemson. Anything seemingly can happen every single Saturday. And this past Saturday was mass chaos within the ACC.
Onto the Power Rankings heading into Week 10!
No. 14 – 10
14. Boston College Eagles – Last Week: 14 – (2-6) – I’m sorry, I do realize that UConn is not the UConn of the past, say, 5 plus years. However, Boston College has no business losing to their little brothers to the south. UConn’s defense forced five turnovers and only allowed the Eagles 3 points all day. Yikes! QB Phil Jurkovec led the team in rushing and RB Pat Garwo III led the team in receiving. ::Insert scratching head emoji here:: Next up: vs. Duke (Friday, 11/4)
13. Virginia Tech Hokies – Last Week: 13 – (2-6) – If you went to bed too early on Thursday night as a Virginia Tech fan, you likely went to bed happy. However, NC State rallied to spoil the Hokies upset effort. I thought there would be a significant jump for VT here in the Power Rankings with a win. But… Next up: vs. Georgia Tech
12. Virginia Cavaliers – Last Week: 12 – (3-5) – I often joke about the “cure for insomnia” when talking about extremely boring games. UVA’s game versus Miami on Saturday was unexplainable. The game went 4 overtimes and the final score was 14-12…and NO TOUCHDOWNS were scored in the game. Poor Virginia. Next up: vs. North Carolina
11. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – Last Week: 11 – (3-5) – Georgia Tech led Florida State 3-0 deep into the first quarter. And then Jordan Travis took over for Florida State and the luster is rubbing off of interim Head Coach Brent Key after dropping two in a row after starting 3-0. No Jeff Sims again for the Jackets, but really they were no match for the Seminoles in Tallahassee. Next up: @ Virginia Tech
10. Miami Hurricanes – Last Week: 10 – (4-4) – Miami was on the winning side of the 14-12 four-overtime victory against UVA. That’s about the only positive that can be said for the listless Canes. Tyler VanDyke was out again and heralded backup Jake Garcia was not very good. But all of that is for naught because they came home with a victory. Next up: vs. Florida State
