Clemson Football: Misun Kelley commits to the Tigers
By John Chancey
Clemson Football received its 21st verbal commitment for the Class of 2023 from Misun “Tink” Kelley. He is a 3-star athlete in the 247 Composite from Daniel High School in Central, SC.
Kelley had committed to Virginia Tech but recently announced that he was re-opening his recruitment. Clemson offered Kelley the next day. He had cited Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma as finalists.
In his Hudl highlights, Kelley lines up all over the field: wide receiver, running back, cornerback, safety, and returner. It’s easy to see why 247 classifies him as an athlete because his athleticism is what stands out most. He measures 5’-11”, but he manages to highpoint the ball on multiple highlights. He is quick and agile enough to play man coverage but can also blitz from the corner and pressure the quarterback.
Insiders believe Kelley will likely start his college career at wide receiver, and potentially transition to defensive back at some point down the line. He has the athleticism to play offense, but he does appear to have the instincts of a defender. He can deliver a hit and appears to have enough vision to quickly read if a play will be a run or a pass.
I suspect Kelley’s initial position group might be dependent on how the roster shakes out after the season. Unexpected returns or departures could influence if Kelley is needed more with the receivers or the defensive backs.
Kelley took his official visit to Clemson on October 22 when the Tigers hosted the Syracuse Orange for homecoming.
Clemson football has received the commitment of another player from Daniel High
This is the second season in a row that Clemson has offered a scholarship to a Daniel player and the third out of the last four years. Jaheim Lawson, brother of Clemson alum and NFL player Shaq Lawson, was a part of the Class of 2022. Tyler Venables, son of former defensive coordinator Brent Venables, was a member of the Class of 2020.
While much of Clemson’s 2023 Class is in place, there are still a few priority targets. 4-star defensive tackle Kayden McDonald announces his decision on October 31. 4-star defensive end Tomarrion Parker plans to visit Clemson at least one more time before rendering a decision.
