As we all know, recruiting never stops, it just occasionally slows down and while we on the outside may not see all the parts at work, trust me, Clemson football is working.

That proved to be the case once again on Wednesday as 2023 offensive line prospect DJ Chester announced a Clemson offer.

The 6’5, 300 pound Chester is currently rated as a four star recruit and is number 151 on the 247 composite, but much more highly ranked by 247sports.com themselves, coming in at number 51.

As you can imagine, Chester is garnering considerable attention in the recruiting world and he has offers from Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss, Florida State and others, in addition to the Tigers.

He does have one crystal ball to LSU from back in July, but that was from an LSU “insider” so make of that what you will.

Perhaps of more interest to Clemson fans is Chester is a teammate of Zechariah Owens, a 2023 offensive lineman committed to Clemson.

Sometimes teammates follow each other, sometimes they follow their own path and don’t, but either way, it’s an interesting note to Chester’s commitment.

There was some question as to whether Clemson football would pursue another offensive lineman in this class, but that decision has been made and the offer is out

The Tigers, of course, have three offensive lineman committed in the 2023 class already.  In addition to Owens, Clemson has garnered the pledges of two Texans – 6’4, 300 pound Harris Sewell of Odessa Permian High School in Odessa, Texas and 6’6.5, 315 pound Ian Reed of Vandegrift High in Austin.

Sewell is a top 100 overall talent nationally for this cycle, while Reed is in the top 250 rated players in the class and Owens is ranked 168th overall.

This is a solid offensive line class, but the position is traditionally a tough one to evaluate for coaches and more is generally better.  At one point there was some question as to whether the Tigers would pursue another offensive lineman in this class, but that decision has been made and the offer is out.
