Clemson football: Class of 2023 inches closer to completion
With the Sunday afternoon commitment of four star wide receiver Ronan Hanafin, Clemson football edged closer to completing the class of 2023.
Remember back in late May when there was angst among the Tiger faithful (including myself to a certain extent) about having four (then three) commitments? That seems so long ago and now the Tigers are in a pretty good spot with this class.
There are, however, a few spots that remain to be addressed as we discussed late last week.
Unless something unusual happens the Tigers are done on the offensive line, quarterback (had to say it), wide receiver and tight end, leaving the gaping hole at running back that we’ve discussed ad nauseum.
Chris Johnson is the current offer there with really no backup plan identified, at least that can be determined publicly.
RubbingtheRock.com contributor Houston Burnett suggested an alternative and that’s intriguing, but not a sure thing by any means.

The Tigers are also looking for a defensive end with Tomarrion Parker, a former Penn State commitment from Phenix City, Alabama, a city that is familiar to Clemson fans, and Daevin Hobbs the names there. Parker has a Clemson offer and Hobbs does not, so make of that what you will.
Parker’s ranked as the 100th best player in the nation in the 247sports.com composite, the 12th best defensive lineman and 11th best player in Alabama.
Hobbs isn’t to far behind, coming in at number 138 in the composite and 20th best defensive line prospect.
Clemson would over sign on the defensive line if four star Kayden McDonald were to decide that Clemson is the place for him.
As always, recruiting is fluid and the above could change, but from my understanding is currently accurate. That’s not just a trite saying, it’s the truth and what is true today, may not be true tomorrow and vice versa.
Either way, the addition of Hanafin is an important one for the Tigers.
