The United Soccer Coaches poll ranked Clemson at #25 in their first poll. The Tigers are one of six ACC teams ranked in the preseason poll.

The ACC dominates the top of the poll with three teams in the top three: #1 Florida State, #2 Duke & #4 Virginia. Other conference teams included are #10 North Carolina and #16 Notre Dame. Wake Forest received votes.

Clemson will be tested quickly in an exhibition against #18 Ole Miss in Atlanta on Tuesday, August 9th.

Their first regular season match will be against Texas A&M on Thursday, August 18th at Historic Riggs Field. This will be a return match following the Tigers’ 1-3 loss to the Aggies in College Station last season.

They renew their rivalry against the #18 South Carolina on Thursday September 1st in Columbia. Their ACC season opens at home against Notre Dame on Monday, September 1st.

After advancing to the ACC semifinal in 2021 Clemson Women’s Soccer team is ranked in the preseason top 25

The Tigers finished the 2021 season with a 12-7-1 record. They advanced to the ACC semifinal with a 3-2 win over Notre Dame before falling to Virginia 0-1. Clemson was tapped for the NCAA tournament for the eighth consecutive year.

Head coach Eddie Wadwanski’s squad is positioned well to be very competitive this season. The Tigers do face a wealth of talent in the ACC, which is one of the deepest conferences in the nation, but they have proven their consistency as a program with a long string of appearances in the NCAA tournament.

Clemson returns twenty players from last year’s squad. They are led by junior defender Megan Bornkamp, their leading scorer in 2021 who was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-American third-team.

She is joined on the defensive end by junior Makenna Morris and goalkeeper Halle Mackiewicz, who will be stepping into the starting lineup following the departure of Hensley Hancuff.

The midfield is anchored by senior Hal Hershfelt and sophomore Fran Stables. Up front, Clemson features senior Caroline Conti and 2021 ACC All-Freshman team member Renee Lyles.

Next. Loud and clear: Clemson isn't a catch and release program. dark
