Clemson football has some holes to fill as the 2022 season approaches.  We all know the question at quarterback and hey, what about the reworked offensive line that includes a center with exactly 0 snaps at the position? The wide receivers weren’t up to the usual Clemson standard last season, either.  I could go on, but you get the point.  There are questions.

Despite those questions members of the media that cover the conference have predicted the Tigers will once again be ACC Champions.

Here’s how the first place votes shook out.

"Team First-place votesClemson 103NC State 38Miami 8Wake Forest 4Pittsburgh 3Virginia 3Florida State 2North Carolina  2Boston College 1"

Breaking down the division votes, it went like this:

"In the Atlantic Division preseason voting, Clemson led the way with 111 first-place votes and 1,080 total points. NC State, which was tabbed as the likely second-place finisher, picked up 44 first-place votes while accumulating 959 points. In the Coastal Division forecast, Miami received 98 first-place votes and amassed 1,036 total points. Defending ACC champion Pitt (38 first-place votes) was next with 911 points, followed by North Carolina (18 first-place votes, 823 points) and Virginia (six first-place votes, 667 points)."

It’s difficult to tell from just the numbers, but it’s interesting to me that the vote for the Atlantic Division, between North Carolina State and Clemson, was much closer than the vote for Conference Champion between North Carolina State and Clemson.

Apparently there are those that feel North Carolina State will win the Atlantic and then lose the championship game.  Interesting.

There’s little doubt the Tigers have the best roster, top to bottom, in the ACC and the head to head with the Wolfpack is in Clemson where the Tigers haven’t lost since November of 2016.

I hope I will owe Will Putnam an apology. dark. Next

Questions remain though and that’s the great thing about college football – it’s the greatest reality show on earth and one never knows what will happen on any given Saturday in the fall.
