With so much talent on the Clemson football defense in 2022, I offer this bit of advice as the season approaches: Don’t forget about KJ Henry!

Clemson is expected to have arguably the best front 7 in college football this coming year with loads of talent everywhere. All Tiger fans know this defense is going to be deep and talented, but some players are getting more attention than others, and for good reason.

Most of the talk for this defense has been about Brian Bresee, Myles Murphy, Trent Simpson, Tyler Davis, and Xavier Thomas. These guys are all projected to be picks in the next NFL draft, some extremely high, as they should be. But one player that is going under the radar is the 5th year Senior out of Winston Salem KJ Henry.

KJ came out of high school as the 14th ranked overall player in the country according to 247sports.com.

Henry got off to a slower start than people might have expected when he arrived at Clemson and redshirted his freshman year. Throughout his career he has still been very valuable to the Tigers on and off the field. He is a high energy guy who the players love, and the fans love.

On and off the field K.J. Henry brings energy to one of the top defenses in the nation in 2022

He’s also the type of player you will see going over to the student section before kickoff and firing up the crowd, and on a big third down making sure the crowd knows to make some noise. Henry has improved every year and made some key plays in big games down the stretch last season having a sack in each of his last 3 games. His biggest sack was late in the fourth quarter vs Iowa State in the bowl game.

It is obvious that Henry keeps improving and is due for a huge breakout year in his 5th season for Clemson.

So while we all talk about guys like Mukuba, Simpson, Bresee, or Xavier Thomas having huge years, and we should, don’t forget about KJ Henry.
