Athletics Director Graham Neff has moved forward in search for new baseball coach.

Much as he indicated in his press conference announcing Monte Lee would not return as Clemson baseball coach, Clemson Athletic Director Graham Neff is moving forward with vetting candidates, while simultaneously being respectful of coaches that may currently be involved in the NCAA Tournament.

It appears that the initial list has been trimmed, though others could be considered.

"Other names could still be considered based on availability and desire, but based on the information we have received over the last three days, here is a more narrowed list of candidates for Clemson’s head coaching job heading into the weekend:Link Jarrett, Notre DameKevin O’Sullivan, FloridaCliff Godwin, East CarolinaErik Bakich, MichiganMatthew LeCroy, Rochester Red Wings, a Washington Nationals affiliateScott Jackson, Liberty"

With one exception all coaches under consideration are involved in the NCAA Tournament

As the NCAA Tournament gets going today there’ll likely be a few slow days as all of the coaches on the list, with the exception of Mattew LeCroy, are coaching teams that are in the field of 64.

It appears several coaches that were initially listed as potential candidates have been excluded, including Justin Haire of Campbell, John Szefc of Virginia Tech and John Strauss (pitching coach) formerly of Baylor.

Jarrett appears to be an early fan favorite and it’s not difficult to understand why with the job he’s done at Notre Dame where his teams play fundamentally sound baseball and rarely seem to beat themselves.

Jarrett is a Tallahassee native and graduate of Florida State.

Godwin has taken mid-major East Carolina to three Super Regionals in the last nine years, something Clemson wasn’t able to accomplish under Lee.

Clemson is looking for just their fourth baseball coach in 65 years and their second in eight after plucking Lee from the College of Charleston to replace Jack Leggett.
