A few days ago we detailed how Clemson football was a little behind with only one commitment in the 2023 cycle.

It’s not time to panic, but rather a time to assess where you’re at, what can be realistically achieved and move forward.

It’s also time to recognize that in recruiting the results aren’t instantaneous.

It sometimes takes months or even years to come to a conclusion.

With that said, from where I sit the recruiting business is a bit like reading tea leaves. Gathering bits of information from people you learn to trust over time.

To that end, this tweet caught my eye.

While vague, it tells me that all the work the Clemson football staff have put in is about to pay off in results.

This makes perfect sense with the spring game on Saturday and it fits with other things I’ve read.

We detailed a few recruits that would be returning to the Clemson campus for another round of visits.

Among those were Sullivan Absher, a 4 star offensive lineman from North Carolina who has a final three of Clemson, North Carolina State and Notre Dame.

Absher is the 237th ranked player in the 247 Composite and the 6th ranked player in North Carolina.

The Tigers once dominated that state in recruiting, but it’s no secret Mack Brown has made a mark recently and Clemson has missed on a few high level targets from the Tar Heel state, so if the Tigers are able to lure Absher away it would be a coup, even more so understanding Clemson’s needs along the offensive line.

In that same article we also mentioned Josiah Trotter, the brother of Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.

Information on the Trotter front has been quiet from what I’ve seen, leading me to think in a certain direction on his commitment, which is scheduled for April 15th.

Trotter is a 4 star linebacker from Philadelphia with a final five of Clemson, South Carolina, Penn State, West Virginia and Virginia Tech.

I wasn’t sure the brotherly connection would mean much in this one, but maybe it does in the end.

Is no news good news?  Sometimes yes and sometimes no, so we’ll have to wait and see.

These two four star prospects would be big gets for the Tigers if that happens, but I can’t help wondering if that’s what all the noise is about, or if there’s a bigger fish swimming in the Clemson pond that will be reeled in soon.
