Former Clemson wide receiver Ray Ray McCloud signed a two year contract with the San Francisco 49ers.

In 64 NFL games McCloud has sixty-four receptions for 390 yards and has spent time with the Bills, Panthers and Steelers.

Though he caught 39 passes last season for the Steelers, McCloud’s primary duty will be as the return man for San Francisco.

In his NFL career McCloud has returned 81 punts for 767 yards (9.5 average) and 72 kickoffs for 1614 yards (22.4).

McCloud’s longest punt return has gone for 57 yards and his longest kickoff return for 49 yards.

While at Clemson, McCloud caught 127 passes for 1,226 yards and four touchdowns, returned 50 punts for 485 yards and a touchdown and eight kickoffs for 235 yards.

The 25 year old was a 6th round pick (#187 overall) by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL draft.

McCloud caught 49 passes for 472 yards and four touchdowns for Clemson’s 2016 National Championship team.

After being used sparingly by the Bills and then released McCloud began the 2019 season with Carolina before being waived and returning to Buffalo.

The Bills again waived McCloud and he signed with Pittsburgh in August of 2020.

McCloud became the Steelers’ primary return specialist, returning 28 kickoffs for 646 yards and 29 punts with an average of 10.7 yards.

Pro Football Focus put McCloud on its All-Pro roster as a second-team return specialist.

McCloud lead the NFL in total punt-return yards gained last season.
