The Clemson Tigers will be on the road for a second-straight week this afternoon when they take on the Pittsburgh Panthers in a game that has major implications in the ACC standings for both teams.

Both the Tigers and the Panthers are looking to get to Charlotte and a win would go a long way in propelling their hopes of winning their respective divisions. A loss wouldn’t by any means take Pitt out of the running for the Coastal Division, but a loss for Clemson could spell the end for the Tigers’ chances at getting back in the Atlantic.

Here’s a look at all you need to know heading into the pivotal matchup.

Clemson Injury Report vs. Pittsburgh Week 8

Clemson has been about as injury-plagued as you could possibly imagine thus far. Starters on the defensive side of the ball have missed major time and both starting DTs in Tyler Davis (a few more weeks) and Bryan Bresee (out for the season) will still be out.

Two of the biggest unavailable names on the offensive side of the ball are WR Joseph Ngata and C Hunter Rayburn, who are both out due to COVID protocol. Due to the loss of Ngata, we’ll be looking to see if EJ Williams and/or Frank Ladson Jr. are available, both of which have missed time nursing injuries the past few weeks.

RB Will Shipley (leg) has returned to practice and he is listed as a game-time decision.

Perhaps the best news on the injury front is that starting CB Andrew Booth Jr., who missed last week vs. Syracuse, is slated to return, as well as second-string CB Fred Davis. With the throwing attack that Pittsburgh possesses, the Tigers will need their defensive backfield to be as health as possible.

Clemson vs Pittsburgh Odds, Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick Week 8

WynnBET’s Week 8 CFB odds have the Tigers listed as a 3-point underdog on the road. This is the first time Clemson has been an underdog in ACC play since 2014 when the Tigers traveled to Tallahassee to play Florida State. The over/under total for the game is set at 48.5.

You’ve got to wonder if Dabo Swinney has some magic up his sleeve with a team that is depleted injury-wise and totally lacking confidence on the offensive side of the ball to somehow motivate them to play at a higher level than what we’ve seen.

We keep hoping for that “breakout game” for the offense, but this certainly doesn’t feel like it’ll be it. We hope to be wrong here, but this one feels like Pittsburgh with that high-powered offense covers the three points, though it will be a close game throughout and the Panthers won’t have near the success against Clemson’s defense that they’ve had in the past few weeks.
