Clemson football fans who were intrigued to hear what The Alliance might bring to the table got a small glimpse of that Tuesday afternoon when the ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12 officially made the announcement.

ACC commissioner Jim Phillips, Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren and Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff held a joint press conference Tuesday afternoon to discuss the alliance and what it will mean for the future of college athletics moving forward.

The three revealed that there wouldn’t be a signed contract between the conferences, but that they would be working together for the betterment of collegiate sports and the student-athlete.

They said that they would not be breaking contracts for existing matchups, but that there would be opportunities for matchups to be scheduled in the future between conference members.

Five matchups we want to see for Clemson football in ‘The Alliance’

No. 1: Clemson vs. Ohio State

The first one that comes to mind is one we’ve already gotten to see a few times, so it may not feel as ‘fresh.’

Still, Clemson vs. Ohio State is a marquee matchup that would pop a major television rating and would be exciting for both fan bases.

Can you imagine getting the Buckeyes in town for a game in Death Valley or traveling up to Columbus for a road matchup? It would be fun and would kindle the fire that’s already burning between the two fan bases and programs.

These two are the banner-carriers for their respective conferences and putting them in a regular season matchup would be a fun one.
