The 2021 Clemson football season is just around a month away from kickoff and that means we’re closing in on the beginning of preseason camp.
In just a matter of days, the Clemson football team will rejoin on the practice field to begin preparing for this fall.
Dabo Swinney and his Tigers have been picked as the favorite to win the ACC for what would be the seventh-straight time in a row and Clemson is considered one of the major contenders for a spot in the CFB Playoff. In the past six seasons, Clemson has won six ACC Championships, made six CFB Playoff appearances, four National Title game appearances and has won two National Championships.
When does fall camp officially begin for the 2021 Clemson football team?
Clemson will open up preseason camp on Friday, August 6th.
This will be an interesting few weeks of fall camp, especially considering the new rules that were approved by the NCAA earlier this spring.
According to the new guidance, teams are allowed to have 25 practices in the 29 days leading up to their first game and the maximum number of allowed ‘contact’ practices is 18. The number of days with full pads is now just nine and teams can scrimmage only two times over the course of the month leading up to their first game.
The rules were put in place to limit injuries, in particularly concussions, that are associated with intense practices each preseason, but it will be interesting to see how they affect the preparedness and readiness of teams across the nation who will now have less days of full-padded practices to adjust to the physical nature of the game.
Clemson football players will report back to campus this week for the Big Weigh-In, which is slated for either Wednesday or Thursday, prior to practice beginning.
The Tigers open up the 2021 season against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, Sept. 4 in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
