The Clemson football program has officially welcomed its entire freshman class of 2021 on to campus and the Tigers are just a few weeks out from opening up preseason camp.
This 2021 Clemson football recruiting class finished ranked No. 5 in the nation according to the 247 Sports’ composite team rankings with 19 commitments, the lowest commitment number of any program inside the top-nine in the nation.
As we look ahead to the 2021 season for Clemson, there is a lot of excitement surrounding what we might see some of these young Tigers accomplish in their first season.
Here’s a look at the three Clemson football freshmen who will make the most immediate impact.
Will Shipley
Will Shipley was on campus for spring practice and he turned heads quite a bit during the time he got to spend on the field.
Shipley is entering a loaded running back room with veterans all across the board, but he still stood out in a big way. He’s not likely to surpass veterans Lyn-J Dixon or Kobe Pace on the traditional depth chart, but that doesn’t mean he won’t get his fair share of opportunities.
We see a ‘committee’ approach to the running back spot during 2021 and that will include Dixon, Pace, Shipley and fellow freshman Phil Mafah. The reason Shipley will be the one to stand out? His versatility.
Don’t be surprised to see Clemson line up Shipley in the backfield and then move him out to the slot. He’s a play-maker and he’s going to find ways to get on the field.
