4-star CB Toriano Pride announced his commitment to the Clemson football program on Friday afternoon, becoming the second commitment of the week for the Tigers.

Pride, a native of Saint Louis, Missouri, is rated as the No. 23 cornerback in the nation and the No. 4 overall player from the state of Missouri by the 247 Sports’ composite player rankings.

4-star S Sherrod Covil announced his commitment to Clemson on Thursday, becoming the first defensive commitment of the class of 2022 for the Tigers. Pride- who chose Clemson over Ohio State, Missouri and Oregon- now joins him.

What does Pride’s commitment mean for Clemson football and the 2022 recruiting cycle?

When watching Pride’s film, it’s clear that his athleticism is what stands out the most. He’s able to lockdown wide receivers and does an excellent job in hanging in coverage no matter the size or speed of his opponent.

Pride will have to get better in open-field tackling, but his ability to cover is going to put him ahead in the game when it comes to battling for playing time. As far as his outlook is concerned, we believe that he’ll be able to work his way up into a starting position after a year or two on campus.

Clemson football needed to pick up at least two cornerbacks in the class and Pride is now the first commitment at the position.

The Tigers will still be recruiting 5-star CB Jeadyn Lukus heavily over the course of the next couple of months until he makes a decision and then they’ll turn their attention potentially towards another prospect or two as they could take up to three cornerbacks in this cycle.

The 2022 Clemson football recruiting class is now ranked No. 23 by the 247 Sports’ Composite Team Rankings after the Tigers’ last two commitments.
