Former Clemson QB Deshaun Watson could be leaving the Houston Texans sooner rather than later, according to the latest reports.

Houston Texans GM Nick Caserio made an appearance on Sports Radio 610 in Houston earlier this week and didn’t give much one way or another when it comes to a potential trade or a look into what the franchise might be deciding to do.

"“I don’t have any additional comments about anything,” Caserio said via NBC Sports. “I think we’re respectful of what’s happening, respectful of the process and everybody that’s involved. The most important thing is for all of us, the coaches and players and myself included, is to focus on the things we can control. As we get more information, as we get closer to training camp, we’ll try to make the best decision for the Houston Texans, whatever that entails.”"

Though Caserio didn’t point to any specific decision, from what we’ve heard in the past and the reports that have come out, the belief is that Deshaun Watson will continue to request to be traded.

If that’s the case, Caserio did place a timeline on when we might be able to see that unfold: A decision could be made before training camp.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio had this to say after the comments:

"“Caserio’s comments suggest that they’ll make a decision based on whatever information they have in July, and that it remains possible he’ll be traded even if the litigation has not been settled,” Florio said."

It’s not looking as if Deshaun Watson will be in Houston too much longer

When you look at the overall body of reports coming out of Houston over the past few months, it doesn’t seem like the Texans are planning on having Deshaun Watson in the fold for the 2021 season.

The Texans have not stood up for Watson on any account when it comes to his lawsuits and it was clear that Watson was upset with the franchise and wanted to be traded well before those legal measures came to light.

There hasn’t been much word on Watson’s legal situation as of late and the latest reports say that there is a possibility of settlement. There have been reports that the Denver Broncos have emerged as a potential trade partner, but we’re still likely several weeks before we know exactly how all of this will unfold.

The main thing we can take away at this point? It looks like Watson’s (near) future will be sealed before training camp.
