Clemson football fans have had to show their patience in the 2022 recruiting cycle unlike anything we’ve seen in the past few years.

By this point in a normal recruiting cycle, the Tigers are fairly close to finishing up their class with just a few extras and final names to watch as we head into the thick of the fall. That hasn’t been the case at all for the 2022 class, though.

Clemson has five commitments as we progress pass the midway point of June and the Tigers have a lot of work to do over the course of the next few months.

Several commitments are on the horizon for Clemson football

If you’ve waited patiently through the grueling months of this recruiting cycle and wondered when the Tigers were going to hit their stride or even had thoughts that maybe the program was teetering on the verge of a slight implosion, this is for you.

The first bit of news has to do with a report from SportsTalkSC coming out of the Elite Retreat this past weekend.

According to SportsTalk, 5-star DE Jeremiah Alexander could be committing “relatively soon,” but even sooner than Alexander is going to be another name: 4-star S Sherrod Covil.

After his visit to Tiger Town, Covil reportedly told North Carolina that he will not be taking his official visit to Chapel Hill and he also announced  that he will be committing this week. Every 247 Sports recruiting insider has a crystal ball prediction for Clemson football and while nothing is ever certain in the world of recruiting, it seems as if everything is aligning for the Tigers to pick up the top-tier safety commitment.

There are also a few more names in which the Tigers progressed (very well) with over the last couple of weeks since visits have been able to be conducted:

  • 4-star CB Toriano Pride
  • 5-star CB Jeadyn Lukus
  • 5-star DT Travis Shaw
  • 4-star DE D.J. Wesolak
  • 4-star RB Trevor Etienne

While the majority of the guys on this list above likely won’t make a decision until this fall, we will point out that Pride is closing in on a decision very soon.

Commitments are on the horizon for Clemson football and all those Tiger fans who have been patiently waiting should rejoice.
