Former Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence knew well before the 2021 NFL Draft started that he was heading to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but that didn’t stop him from getting a little antsy as he waited for the official call on Draft Night.

In a behind-the-scenes video documenting Draft Night with Jaguars, it was revealed that the organization was told it had to wait seven minutes before it could turn in its card. When the Jaguars did go to call Lawrence, the number went to a voicemail box that had not been set up yet.

They tried again, but to no avail. They tried a third time and it went to voicemail, as well.

"“We started calling and getting a recording,” said owner Shahid Khan. “You’re seeing that clock tick away and then let’s try it again, get the recording. After about three tries, it’s like you’re over here nervous.”"

Finally, Urban Meyer stepped in and called Trevor Lawrence on his personal cellphone.

Trevor Lawrence admitted to Urban Meyer that he was a little anxious

According to reports from USA Today, Lawrence admitted to Urban Meyer on the phone that he was a little anxious but all is well that ends well.

The Jaguars turned in their pick with a little less than two minutes remaining on the clock. In 2003, the Minnesota Vikings “passed” on its first-round selection after not doing anything while on the clock. Luckily, this didn’t turn into that kind of major mistake.

Lawrence is now running through mini-rookie camp at least on a limited basis and there’s no doubt he’s going to make a major impact right from the start.

While with the Clemson football program, Lawrence finished with a 34-2 overall record as a starter and he led the Tigers to three-straight CFB Playoff appearances and a National Championship as a freshman.

Lawrence completed 66.6 percent of his passes for 10,098 yards and 90 touchdowns to 17 interceptions.

Clemson fans are looking forward to seeing both Lawrence and Travis Etienne suit up in the black and teal as they begin their professional careers in Jacksonville.
