If the Clemson football program wants to reach the status that Alabama has attained, the Tigers have some work to do as we move forward.

There’s no doubt that Clemson football has set out with the goal to be the best program in the nation year-in and year-out. Under the leadership of Dabo Swinney, Clemson has won two National Championships in the last five years and has made six-straight CFB Playoff appearances. The Tigers absolutely dominate the ACC and there’s no reason to believe that they’re going to be slowing down anytime soon.

There was a time- just a couple of years ago following the 2018 season- where some analysts were beginning to believe that the Alabama Crimson Tide were slowing down and that the Tide had been surpassed by Clemson.

Nick Saban didn’t take too kindly to those sentiments. Though the Tide missed the CFB Playoff in 2019- mostly due to an injury sustained by Tua Tagovailoa- Bama came roaring back in 2020 and cemented itself as a legitimate contender for years to come with a dominating win over Ohio State in the National Championship.

There has been only one program who has competed with Alabama and that’s Clemson football. Still, the Tigers have some work to do

I want to take you back just a couple of nights ago to the first-round of the 2021 NFL Draft where we saw a total of six Crimson Tide players taken.

That amount tied the record that Miami had set in the past and there were many who thought Alabama had a chance to break the record with Christian Barmore, who attended the draft but was not selected.

That amount of developed talent- along with some of the best recruiting classes in the history of College Football- shows us that the Tigers still have some work to do if they want to catch back up to Alabama.

As we just pointed out, a couple of years ago it was Alabama who had to catch up to Clemson. What did Nick Saban do? He worked hard on the recruiting trail, continued to develop his players and worked to modernize and change his schemes. It worked to perfect.

Now, it’s the Tigers’ turn.

We have the utmost confidence that Dabo Swinney will be able to do the same and keep this war that has recently become a power struggle between Bama and Clemson going for many more years to come.

Next. Trevor Lawrence will be franchise-changing for Jacksonville. dark
