Clemson football fans went wild this past Thursday during the first-round of the 2021 NFL Draft when the Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t draft just one, but two Tigers with their first two picks.

Not only was it two Clemson football players who would now be on the same team, but it was a pairing that Tiger fans had grown accustomed to seeing for the last three years.

The Jaguars drafted Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick and then followed it by drafting Travis Etienne with that No. 25 overall pick.

That pairing of Lawrence and Etienne won Clemson three ACC Championships and a National Title while the two set all kinds of records working together in the backfield.

Now, Jacksonville Jaguars fans are going to get to see the same pairing right in front of their eyes.

The Jaguars executives knew this Clemson football pairing would bring them money

As soon as Etienne was still available with that No. 25 overall pick, it almost became a foregone conclusion that he’d be selected by the Jags.

The Jaguars know what they were doing and they know that pairing Etienne with Lawrence was something that would absolutely make them a ton of cash.

Why?

  1. Jaguars fans got their franchise QB and an explosive play-maker at running back
  2. Clemson fans are now Jaguars fans

It wasn’t a boring offensive line pickup at the end of the first-round. Instead, it was a home run hitter in Travis Etienne. That’s exactly what Jaguars fans were wanting. They want excitement. They want a chance to see their franchise excel.

If it wasn’t enough to generate excitement among Jags fans, you’ve also got Clemson football fans who are looking to make trips to Jacksonville now to see the former Tigers. There are billboards advertising flights from GSP to JAX. That wouldn’t be happening if there wasn’t some major passion from Clemson fans.

Merchandise. Ticket sales. Social media platforms. You name it.

Trevor Lawrence generates a ton of revenue by himself, but when you pair Travis Etienne with him, the Jaguars simply couldn’t be beaten in terms of the financial gain they saw in the first-round of the NFL Draft.
