It seems like no one has been more popular than Trevor Lawrence over the last few days as we inch closer to time for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Lawrence signed an endorsement deal with Topps for an exclusive set of cards to be made just a month ago and those already sold out.

He followed that up by signing two endorsement deals with Gatorade and Blockfolio- a cryptocurrency app- and then it was announced on Tuesday that Lawrence was entering another venture with Topps, this time an exclusive NFT collection.

What is NFT and how does it show Trevor Lawrence’s genius?

NFT stands for ‘non-fungible token’ and can range from an image to a video. In short, it’s basically a digital piece of memorabilia that many collectors believe will increase in value in the next few decades. Similar to trading cards and action figures, NFTs are meant to be traded and collected.

Many will hold on to them because of the tangible value, but most who possess them believe those items will be worth quite a bit down the road.

Lawrence’s NFT collection will be a six-piece set- a deal with Topps- was created in collaboration with his family members, just as the sold-out physical card set was.

"After releasing a physical card set that sold out due to high demand, they are now offering up a six-piece NFT collection that was created in collaboration with Trevor’s family members, according to the release from Topps. His brother and sister-in-law, professional artist duo Chase and Brooke Lawrence, helped design the collection which features five open-edition cards as well as a 1/1 auction of a signed Superfractor card along with a signed Artist Proof card from Trevor, Chase, and Brooke. The five open-edition cards are $200, and a collector who purchases all five NFTs will receive a limited edition Chrome card.”"

In the end, this is ingenious business strategy from Trevor Lawrence and no one can argue otherwise.

He is going to be one of the pioneers of the digital age in terms of athletes and he is one of the first professional athletes to sign an NFT deal. The Clemson QB is showing his great wisdom and is doing an excellent job of building his brand at an early stage while also getting his family involved. It’s a win/win all the way around.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Lawrence continues to progress not just as a player, but as a brand-builder over the next few years as he takes the NFL by storm.
