Clemson football fans already know that they’ll be seeing QB Trevor Lawrence taken with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, but there is intrigue about where many other Tigers might end up when it’s all said and done.

One name that continues to roll across the screen as an ‘unknown’ is WR Cornell Powell.

There were times when many NFL analysts considered Powell a solid mid-rounder who could be taken squarely on Day 2. Others still believe he’ll fall somewhere on Day 3.

Here’s a look at when Clemson football fans can expect to see Cornell Powell taken with his ceiling & floor

The main thing hurting Powell when you look at his NFL Draft stock was the fact that he simply doesn’t have the film that many other wide receivers possess, and this is a really deep wide receiver draft class.

It took Powell a while to bloom, but he finally did come through in a big way during that 2020 Clemson football season. He finished his final year with the Tigers with 53 catches for 882 yards and seven touchdowns.

Cornell Powell’s ceiling:

Despite the talk about him being a potential Day 2 prospect early in the draft evaluation process, the overarching theme for Powell looks like him being a Day 3 guy who will be on a lot of franchise’s radars.

Powell’s ceiling could be as high as the mid-portion of the fourth-round and potentially even a little higher if wide receivers started to go at a higher rate in the third-round.

Cornell Powell’s floor:

Unfortunately, the NFL Draft- especially on Day 3- can be tough to predict. Sometimes a prospect will seemingly go forgotten several picks, or even a round or so, later than what many believe they should have.

Powell’s floor, in my opinion, looks to be Round 6. He’ll be taken up before the final round of the draft begins, but if things lined up against his favor, it could be a little longer of a day than he would’ve liked.

Next. How would Clemson fare with an SEC schedule?. dark

Overall, Clemson fans can expect to see Powell fall somewhere between Round 4 & Round 6 and we think the most likely outcome is in the mid-to-late portion of the fourth-round or for him to be one of the first prospects off the board in Round 5.
