Trevor Lawrence doubters are also leaving out this little quote

Trevor Lawrence finished his collegiate career with three CFB Playoff appearances, a National Championship and three ACC Titles before declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft.

We’ve all known since well before Lawrence even committed to the Clemson football program that he was going to be the No. 1 overall pick in this coming draft, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had his fair share of doubters.

In a Sports Illustrated cover story that went in-depth on Trevor Lawrence’s family life, his faith, his football career and much more, Lawrence revealed just how mature and level-headed he was when it came to the game of football.

"“It’s hard to explain that because I want people to know that I’m passionate about what I do and it’s really important to me, but . . . I don’t have this huge chip on my shoulder, that everyone’s out to get me and I’m trying to prove everybody wrong,” he says. “I just don’t have that. I can’t manufacture that. I don’t want to.” Marissa adds, “There’s also more in life than playing football.”"

His doubters didn’t like that too much.

There’s more to life than football? How dare Lawrence say there could be other priorities in his life besides football.

The funny thing is: Trevor Lawrence doubters must’ve not taken time to read the whole article

If you go on to read the entire Sports Illustrated article, you’ll find this little quote at the end of it:

"Before Lawrence’s senior year King [Lawrence’s high school coach] brought the quarterback into his office and tried to pry something out of him. Goals, Trevor. You must have goals. Name one goal. As King recalls, “He wasn’t staring me in the eye or anything. There was probably a hair flip or shoulder shrug when he said it.”Lawrence casually told him, “Coach, I just want to be the best that’s ever done it.” They never spoke of it again."

That really sounds like a guy who isn’t committed or dedicated to being the best he can be.

Trevor Lawrence doubters have been prevalent ever sense he started to gain fame in high school and yet he has handled every single situation with poise and class.

Does Lawrence have a laidback personality? Yes. Does he have other loves and priorities other than football? Yes.

But anyone who is doubting his commitment level or his love for the game needs to just step back because they’re getting into dangerous territory of speaking on something they know nothing about.

Just for a little refresh, back in August there was this major movement to cancel the College Football season. Do you know who stepped up and became the voice against that? Well, it was Trevor Lawrence.

Lawrence started the #WeWantToPlay movement. Why would a guy who doesn’t care about football and who already had his draft status cemented well before the 2020 season risk getting injured or hurting his stock by playing another season unless he was motivated to win and to give his absolute best one last time for his teammates and his fans?
