Clemson basketball: Bracketologist calls Tigers a ‘major fraud’
Bracketologist calls Clemson basketball a major fraud
The Clemson basketball team will begin its run in the NCAA Tournament tonight with a first-round matchup against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
While Clemson comes into this game as a 7-seed and Rutgers is a 10-seed in the Midwest Region, the Tigers are being picked to lose by many and they are actually listed as a 1.5-point underdog.
Why? Well, one Bracketologist has an answer.
Jonathon Warriner, a member of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, released his official ‘Fraud Power Rankings’ for the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Where was Clemson ranked? No. 2 out of the entire field.
Clemson basketball will have to prove that it’s not a fraud because more analysts than not don’t believe in the Tigers
It’s easy to get defensive or to get angry at an analyst who is picking against your team, but the truth is that people calling Clemson a ‘fraud’ have a legitimate concern.
The Tigers went an entire month of the season losing to tournament-level teams by double-digits.
No one cares about what you did back in November and December at this point. It’s about what you’re doing now.
What has Clemson done in the month of March? The Tigers lost by 10 points in the Carrier Dome against Syracuse, beat a bad Pittsburgh team and then lost to a bad Miami team in the ACC Tournament.
We’ve said over and over again that Clemson is a legitimate threat to making a deep run in the tournament. The Tigers have the talent and the ability to do so and their placing in the bracket is perfect. That being said, you have to make results happen on the court.
Can Clemson make it to the Sweet-16 and beyond? Absolutely. Can the Tigers be beaten by Rutgers in the first-round? There’s no doubt.
We don’t believe that Clemson basketball is a fraud, but there should be an understanding among Tiger fans when we hear analysts use those phrases when looking at what the team has done this year and the inconsistency that they’ve played with.
