Five things we’ve learned through the first portion of Clemson football spring practice
The Clemson football program has officially gone through nine practice sessions for the spring and is now on break as we approach the last couple of weeks of spring practice.
When the Tigers return, they will have six more practice sessions- including the annual Orange & White Spring Game- before closing up shop and beginning their summer preparations.
What are the major takeaways so far?
Here’s a look at five things we’ve learned about this 2021 Clemson football team through the first portion of spring practice.
5. There is no concern about beginning the D.J. Uiagalelei era
You’ve probably heard several analysts talk about this and it’s absolutely crazy if you just think about it on the surface.
Trevor Lawrence- the second-greatest QB in the history of the Clemson football program- has moved on to the NFL and there’s not even a QB competition taking place.
Lawrence led Clemson to three-straight ACC Championships, CFB Playoff appearances and one National Title during his time as a Tiger and, yet, there is no concern about the quarterback position.
Why? It’s time for the ‘Big Cinco Era’ to begin.
D.J. Uiagalelei won out the backup position behind Lawrence last fall and he has looked impressive during the times he has taken the field, including in two starts where he threw for nearly 800 yards and accounted for six touchdowns.
Uiagalelei is the unquestioned starter at the QB position heading into this season and the coaches (and fans alike) have absolutely no concerns, and why should they?
