Clemson football commits and recruits could soon visit in-person again

The Clemson football program could soon be welcoming its commits and potential prospects on campus again after more than a year hiatus away from visits.

High school prospects for all sports over the course of the last year have been forced to make decisions without the full recruiting experience. Schools and coaches have been able to have contact with the recruits, but they haven’t been able to welcome them on campus in-person.

Prospects have visited campuses and even attended Clemson football games on their own dime, but they weren’t allowed to have contact with coaches or program representatives during those visits.  Now, that all might be about to change.

CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd reported Monday that the NCAA is expected to recommend that the current dead period end on June 1st and that it transition to a ‘quiet period.’

"“The NCAA Football Oversight Committee will recommend this week that the dead period transition to a “quiet period” on June 1, CBS Sports has learned. During a quiet period, college football programs can host recruits on campus and conduct camps,” Dodd wrote."

Clemson football will gain much traction with recruits when in-person visits are allowed again

Clemson arguably has the best facilities in the country. Anybody who has been to Clemson knows how special that area is once you get on campus.

We’ve heard countless stories of prospects who go up to Clemson and come away completely in love with the atmosphere, the feeling of the town and the overall vibe. ‘There’s just something in those hills,’ it’s something we’ve all likely said or thought at one time or another.

That simply can’t be duplicated on a virtual visit.

Dabo Swinney is a great recruiter and this Clemson football coaching staff has done an excellent job with everything considered- and everyone across the nation was on an even playing field- but there’s no doubt that the Tigers will benefit from recruits being allowed to visit campus, to conduct visits that include meeting with coaches and being able to receive the full experience that was so lacking over the past year- and ongoing currently.

If the NCAA does move to a quiet period, it would mean that Clemson football could host Dabo Swinney’s football camp and the All-In Cookout- which has been a real winner over the years in terms of recruiting- could return, as well.

There’s still a long time between now and June 1st, but it does seem we are heading in the right direction in prospects being able to take visits again and that bodes well for the Tigers on the recruiting trail.
